Triangle (yield sign) with !

I can't receive email on the Mail app. The symbol is not the "lightning in a circle" on. It is a triangle (like a Yield sign) with an exclamation mark in it. What does this mean?

It means that the email account's connection to its respective email servers is "broken." It could be for a number of reasons, including:

  1. The email server is down.
  2. The email server has moved or no longer exists.
  3. There is an issue with your email user credentials and cannot connect to the server to access it.

I suggest starting by using Apple's Connection Doctor to see if accessing the email server is the issue.
