Watching a movie

I downloaded a movie on my iPad. I want to watch the movie on my smart tv. My question is how do I pair up the iPad to the tv???

You should be using AirPlay for playing a movie. Once you have it setup on the iPad, make sure they TV supports AirPlay, and down in the lower right corner of the movie screen, you should see an icon that looks like a rectangular screen with an arrow head at the bottom. That allows you to select AirPlay devices. Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror your device’s screen - Apple Support
