By most accounts, better to try to live without third-party software from the maker of external drives.
Also avoid 'internal purposed' software from those same makers. Use macOS utilities setup methods.
Any 3rd-party factory partitions should be erased; so their software goes bye-bye, before overlaying macOS.

You should not need software from the external drive maker.
Since you asked, my opinion and objective reply ~is No.
Certain formats could affect how your Mac sees an external drive.
(That's 'no' to their software download; no need, in 1st Q.)
