Lost Airplay password OSX 10.14

I have an LG smart TV. It shows in the OSX Airplay drop down list. If I select it, it asks for a password. I thought I'd got Airplay sharing direct to the TV. At some point it asked me to select passcode or password to connect to the TV. I have since forgotten the password. I can screenshare to the TV via my AppleTV device, but the connection selection is tedious via the TV and AppleTV settings. I can also directly screen share from my IPhone to the LG TV (no password request). So, my question: am I correct in thinking that I can directly share to the LG TV from OSX 10.14 Airplay, and if so, how do I get around the password request? I can find nowhere to set or reset a password, and I'm not even sure if its an Apple of LG setting.

OK, I found out the path through the numerous rabbit burrows in the LG menu system. On the LG TV remote:

Home button > Home Dashboard > Airplay > Airplay & Homekit Settings > Require Code > Use Password Instead.

If you've set up a previous password, it gives you the password (or a new one). Either way, the password request in OSX now works.

Describing the LG menu system as "byzantine" is putting it mildly :-(
