Password reset

My mother-in-laws apple id on her phone was changed and we don't know the password and we aren't able to reset it. Her iPad has a different apple id. What are our options?

Why can't you reset the password?


For the Apple ID password, enter the Apple (iCloud) ID, and click Forgot Password. See if you can get an email option if necessary.

If necessary, if she is the original owner, have her contact Apple. Apple can remove the ID  if provided the required paperwork. Either take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store (if it has reopened)
