disconnecting apple watch from broken phone

My son received an apple watch series 5 and connected it to his old iPhone SE. His iPhone broke and won't turn on, now he has the new iPhone SE but we can't connect the watch to his new phone because of his apple id. How can we disconnect the apple watch without the phone?
