Does the Smart Folio for iPad Air (4th generation) cover and protect the back of the iPad as well as the screen?

(Note. The menu options do not allow the selection of the iPad Air 4th generation: I have put iPad 3 although I'm not talking about this – I don't even know if it's the same size)

I've been looking at reviews before buying a cover for my new iPad Air (4th Gen); some reviews suggest that the back of the iPad is not protected by the Smart Folio, and can therefore be scratched, whereas on the Apple website it says the back and front are protected. However, there is only a single image (presumably of the front covering the screen), and therefore it's not clear whether or not the cover runs round the back as well.

When I compare this with the OtterBox Symmetry Series 360 Folio Case for iPad Air (4th generation), it is clear the Otterbox cover also protects the back of the iPad with a transparent cover – there are various images to provide evidence of this.

Could someone clear up my uncertainty about the Smart Folio before I decide which to buy?
