what is quick way to survey what font to use in pages 5.6.2? seems that with earlier Pages versions as your mouse landed on font titles, highlighted text would let you see what that font would look like.

You can open Font Book and choose to show sample text from any selected font. The font menu in Pages v5.6.2 also shows the font appearance in the individual font names. The font menus in Pages '09 v4.3 also show the styled font view.
Pages '09 v4.3 does not display what the current text selection would appear as when one passes over a given font menu item, and none of the Pages v5 - v10.3.9 releases do so either.
