I just downloaded microsoft 365 and it stated purchased, I want cancel then I found out it is free, is it free or just a free trail

It definitely isn't free unless you have some kind of special offer. It is only available by subscription so likely there's a free trial.

They are the developers of the software. IF you want to uninstall it, then you'll need an uninstaller. So, ask Microsoft which uninstaller to use. Just dragging to into the trash will leave temporary files laying about your Mac.
