Music Library (Damaged).musiclibrary

How do I fix my Music Library so that it will see all my ALAC recordings again? It became damaged after a Catalina update around March 1st, 2020.

Try Empty/corrupt iTunes/Music library after upgrade/crash - Apple Community. Essentially you want to restore the state of the Music Library.musiclibrary package from a time prior to it going wrong into its intended location, usually ~/Music/Music where ~ is your user's home folder. You should probably option-start-Music and explicitly select this recovered file in case Music tries to remain attached to any other library file it may have been using since things went wrong.

Thank you, barberlives123 – I left something out and there was no way for me to edit my original post.

I forgot to mention that I have a Time Capsule backup of the file: Music Library.musiclibrary … I've just never had to use my Time Capsule before and I am a little afraid to do it without clear cut instructions.

As far as Apple Support goes, I have reached out to them NUMEROUS times on this issue. I even got ahold of a senior tech who said he would work with me no matter what it took to fix it! He gave me a case number, called me back once at a time when I couldn't answer the phone, and that was the end of that! I had no direct email for him and no way to reach that particular representative again.

The other calls I made to Apple Support didn't even get that far, so this is why I am coming to the Apple community for help.

Now that you know I have a Time Capsule backup (and again, I apologize profusely for not mentioning that in the original post), can you or someone else walk me through the steps to restore a MusicLibrary.musiclibrary file from a day before the damage?

Thanks to anyone who is willing to give me a hand with this restoration from Time Capsule!

Jim
