My son lost his phone but backed his phone up to the cloud. We sent him one of our old phones that had been wiped clean. Can we download from the cloud all of his data onto new phone and keep his old phone number without his old SIM card?
As long as the phone can be upgraded to the same version of IOS as his phone was, AND has sufficient storage, then it should be possible to recover the backup from iCloud.
Regarding the number, he will have to ask his service provider to transfer his number onto a new SIM, if they can do it.
