itunes volume keeps adjusting

I teach online fitness classes with music. I used iTunes for my playback. During each song, the volume randomly goes up and down. I am not touching it. It's becoming an issue for playback on my videos because I can't hear the music. Why does it auto adjust the volume? I need to fix this asap.

"Music" app playing songs at lower pitch I've had this issue consistently in the past... month or two, I think. Sometimes, when I play a song through the "Music" app, the playback will be at a much lower pitch than it should be. This results in songs being distorted-from what I can tell, the speed of the songs isn't changing, just that the music is being pitched down. I notice this most often when I use the "shuffle" option in my smart playlists. Restarting the app or even just playing a different song and then going back to the original one will often fix the issue. Pausing and resuming a song with the pitch problem doesn't fix the issue, keeping the incorrect pitch until I restart or try something else. This issue also has never happened on my iPod's music app, nor does it persist on specific songs... it seems to occur randomly. How do I fix this issue? What's even causing it? I don't think there'd be any setting that would cause random songs to be pitched down when I shuffle through my music library (which is all local files).

We know the importance of having iTunes volume work as expected when teaching your fitness class. Let's start by testing if the issue still occurs after enabling Sound Check in iTunes following the steps here:

Change Playback preferences in iTunes on Mac

If there's no change, test again after you reset the NVRAM and SMC on your Mac:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

How to reset the SMC of your Mac
