trying to recover IPhoto library from backup drive but getting error message and not able to format in Photos..any ideas?

Trying to pull up an old iphoto library from a seagate backup disc bought at the apple store but getting a message that I cant recover them to open in photos not compatible.. something like that. Any ideas how to get all those photos back??

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Since Ventura update I cannot import photos. I recently got the Ventura update on my intel based Mac. I am unable to import photos from SD card to my photos library that is on an external drive. I've been reading that some people are having similar but not quite the same issue as me... I tried just about everything. Restarting. Disconnect/reconnect. Disk utility unmount/mount. Change photos directory.

unable to open the library & PHPhotosErrorDomain error 5416 Hi, After updated to MacOS Venture v13.0.1, the Photos.app cannot open the photo libraries about 150GB in the mobile hard disk in ExFAT format, with the error: Photos was unable to open the library “Photos Library.photoslibrary”. (5416) I created a new library, it shows the similar error with code 5416. The operation couldn’t be completed. (PHPhotosErrorDomain error 5416.) Ich can see the photos and videos in the "originals" right clicking "show package contents". However, can you help me to solve the problem? Thank you in advance! Kind regards

How as the back up made? How are you restoring it?

Can you give us the exact error message you get?
