Screen too dim to see when in bright sun

Hi!

my 12mini’s screen goes so dim when I’m using it in full sun that I can barely see anything on it. Turning auto-brightness on/off does not affect it. Reduce white point is not enabled. The phone works fine apart from this. My old 6s never did this. It’s especially annoying when using the phone in a car mount for navigation because the screen will dim itself down so much I can’t see where it’s telling me to go! Is it a heat problem? Does the backlight turn off above a certain temp?
