RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS MacBook Air EARLY 2014

I have tried to hold down alt cmd R P as I turn on the MacBook but this does not work

I am assuming that you are referring resetting the PRAM/NVRAM portion of your MacBook Air. On the other hand, I wanted to make sure that you are not referring to returning your MacBook Air to Factory Settings by erasing your drive as well.


Follow the procedure(s) below if you just wanted to reset the SMC and PRAM-

  1. Reset SMC by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset SMC.
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset NVRAM/PRAM.


Follow the procedure(s) below if you just wanted to erase the MacBook Air and return it to Factory Settings-

  1. Follow the instructions in this guide published by Apple ➔ How to ease your Intel based Mac - Apple Support.
