Files print as meaningless symbols.

I have a Xerox B315 printer. WIFI enabled. Apple Macbook 2017.

When printing from anything other than the control panel (IP address in browser on my MacBook) i get meanless symbols.

When printing from the CP it works, but only certain files can be printed using CP knowingly: print ready files (*.pdf, *.ps, *.pcl, *.txt, *.prn, *.tif, *.tiff, *.jpg, *.jpeg.) may be submitted to the device from this page.

I can also print using an iPhone. However using my MacBook it just doesnt work.

There must be something wrong with either drivers or fonts that causes this to happen.

I did validate the fonts through Font Book.. any other suggstions?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

Hi r wortmann,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! We're glad you've reached out for help with this issue you're experiencing when printing from your Mac. Let's look into it together.

Since this involves your third-party device, there's a possibility we may refer you to Xerox support directly.

First, let's ensure that your Mac is otherwise working as expected. Are you seeing these unexpected symbols at any other times, such as when using applications on your Mac, or is it only when printing?

Let us know if the information in this guide helps:

If you should continue to experience issues, be sure to reset the printing system following these steps:

that doesn’t make sense to me. And I must say putting it to a ‘third’ party is way too easy as an answer. As i said from my iPhone (prodcued by Apple) i have no problem printing. From my macbook i can not print unless i use the interface of Xerox, at which time i can only print non-font (i.e. images like jpg) files. so it certainly is a problem within the apple software. As i am able to make contact with the printer using the MacBook, but once when i want to print from any piece of software i cant...
