My new apple streaming box is approximately 9 mo old and works fine except it recently will not load or stream Netflix and there is a blue dot under the Netflix icon on my app screen?
The blue dot means Netflix was updated. Have you tried resetting your Apple TV?
It is not your Sony TV that you need to update, but rather your Apple TV box. Netflix changed their requirements and it now needs the latest version of TVOS (Apple TV's operating system).
You have to check for the update, it will likely be there and once installed should solve your problem.
Please update TV OS, if it is set for automatic updates turn that off then update the OS. Then retest Netflix.
To reset the Apple TV you need to go into settings>system>reset.
Thanks, updating the OS on the Apple fixed the problem! The blue dot under the Netflix icon also went away. The Apple was on auto update, but it needed your suggestion!
I had to research how to update the Apple!
Unplugged Sony TV and Apple hardware for several minutes to reset. Turned off auto update in Apps settings on Apple hardware.
Same results? Netflix has blue dot under its icon and when clicked a brief view of Netflix symbol flashed for less than a second and then screen is back to Netflix icon with blue dot when Netflix is highlighted! Blue dot disappears from icon when anything else is highlighted.
Apple hardware settings in Apps shows the Netflix setting as
ESN NFAPPL-04-APPLETV6=2-A85A845...
No problem. The blue dot simply identifies apps that have recently been updated, and it can take time for auto update to install the next version so if you do encounter something just remember to check that it is up to date.
My TV is a 16 year old Sony and I can’t find any way to update OS?
i have a new fire stick that will play Netflix just fine on this same TV? Not sure why Apple Netflix update doesn’t work whilefire stick can?
