iTunes Freezes when Exporting a Playlist

Using Windows 10 and latest version of iTunes.

Whenever I try Exporting a playlist file in any format (.txt, .html, etc.) my iTunes locks and will not recover - I must End Process in Process Explorer to stop it.

NOTE: There's a file 'iTunes Export.tmp' in my destination folder, so iTunes gets that far in the process before barfing.

I need to be able to export my (extensive) playlist files to back my machine up.

Help?

Windows, Windows 10

Yep that's what I did - disabled both. Same thing happened.

BUT... I discovered that iTunes is NOT (as I thought) totally hung! It's just taking a really long time to finish the export - like 5-7 minutes per Playlist file (for .txt - HTML and M3U seem about twice as fast).

Now... given that the hard drive in this machine is a top-of-the-line SSD + I have an obscene amount of RAM in this beast... I can't see why a simple text conversion of the playlist file names would take so long, but there you are. *Shrug*

Thanks a million!

As they say in financial circles, past performance is not a guide to the future. My understanding is that running two AV packages with live scanning features at the same time may not be ideal, but perhaps that isn't what you are doing. You could try temporarily disabling AV to see if iTunes can perform its exports unhindered. Alternatively you could exclude the folders that you're exporting to and the library from real time scanning. You can try launching iTunes with Ctrl+Shift held down in case opening it in its safe mode helps.

I run Malwarebytes and Kaspersky antivirus/antimalware on all my machines, yes, and have done so for many years, including the time period when I last Exported my playlists into files like I'm attempting to do again now.

Though neither antivirus app has ever previously interfered with iTunes I did try exiting both antivirus applications then re-launching iTunes as a test. When I attempted to Export a playlist I encountered the exact same problem (iTunes freezes after creating the 'iTunes Export.tmp' file, then never finishes the export).

Also thanks for the SyncToy link - I may use that for different reasons, but for now I'm not interested in making a full backup of my library - I just need to export my Playlist files into .TXT files without iTunes freezing up.
