How can I locate my dad’s lost phone even though he is not a list of devices on “find my phone”. Can I add him now and find the phone? Thank you

If he had Find My turned on in his phone before it was lost, you can use any internet browser and log into www.icloud.com/find using his Apple ID.
Note that it can be done on a Windows computer, a Mac computer, an iPhone or Android phone, or on any brand of tablet.

If Find My [device] isn't enabled on your device before it goes missing, there's no other Apple service that can find, track, or flag your device for you.

I could really use someone’s help, my dad is 86 and sometimes leaves his phone in a store or something and I really don’t like him being without a phone when he’s gone because I get worried something will happen.
