Ipad use outside

Does the reflective coating on the new IPad and Ipad Air make it possible to read on this outside at the beach or pool?

The anti-reflection coating simply reduces reflection from the cover glass, improving contrast and readability.

If intending to use your iPad outdoors, your principal problem for reading the display is screen brightness. The LCD backlight is inadequate in full sunlight - and the screen will require shading to be visible.

Consider also that iPad, in common with many electronic devices, must be kept relatively cool. If used in full sun, in particular with the screen running at full brightness, the iPad can quickly overheat. While the iPad should automatically shut-down, the Li-ion battery can still suffer permanent/irreversible damage.
