The Songs list always defaults to "Album" listing. How can I get it to remember to sort by "Album by Artist/Year"? I always have to click the column header a few times to get to sort order I want. When I close the Music app it defaults back to "Album".
The strange part is that the Artist list remembers my preferred sort order.

It's not a fault, it's a feature.
Or at least I'm seeing the same as you so it is probably the currently defined behaviour. Happens in playlists too. I haven't noticed it before as Album by Artist is my preferred layout. Use Feedback - Apple Music - Apple to suggest improvements.
