Phone rings and shows "possible spam".
As i received a phone call, my screen showed "possible spam". The number is not in my contacts. What does this indicate?
A voicemail was left. Is it safe to listen to?

It is a number that your phone did not recognize. If they left a message, it is safe to check it then you can decide if you want to return the call.
