Using Safari only, visit How to get old versions of macOS, verify that you have hardware compatibility with Catalina, and follow the link to the full Catalina installer in the Mac App Store.

Before you upgrade from High Sierra, you may want to run the free Go64 application to determine what 32-bit applications that you current use that will not be supported in the 64-bit only Catalina. Recommend that you visit your printer and scanner vendor sites and confirm that they too have driver support for Catalina.

Perform a final Time Machine Backup of High Sierra before the upgrade.
