I am trying to connect a PS3 to my Imac. I am using aHDMI - Thunderbolt adapter. I cannot seem to use Target Display Mode. I think my Imac may not support Target Display Mode. It is mid 2014 Running Big Sur

I am trying to connect a PS3 to my Imac. I am using an HDMI - Thunderbolt adapter. I cannot seem to use Target Display Mode. I think my Imac may not support Target Display Mode. It is mid 2014 Running Big Sur. Should I be able to run Target Display Mode on my Imac??

iMac 21.5″, macOS 11.1

You are correct, it is not supported. PS3's were never supported in Target Display Mode.
