My @mac.com address no longer valid at appleid.com

I cannot log onto appleid.com using my @mac.com address. This has been my Apple ID for years, but with the latest version of BigSur (11.1) that address no longer works; however, @me.com and @iCloud.com still work. Is this a change to the the new software?

In which case it is frustrating that the person who only registered after me was able to take over my original Apple ID so that I had to change it to my work email in the first place.

"This email address is not available for use as an Apple ID" My current apple id using ****@ mail.com now. I want to change to ****@ gmail.com. But I get the message "This email address is not available for use as an Apple ID" Not sure why? [Edited by Moderator]

Unable to change Apple ID email I would like to change my Apple ID email from @yahoo.com to @gmail.com. The @gmail.com email was previously tag to another Apple ID account, but I have deleted this account 2 - 3 months back. However, when I want to change my current Apple ID email, it still states that the @gmail account is not available. //QUOTE// Apple ID Error: This email address is not available. Choose a different address. //UNQUOTE// Is it not possible to change the Apple ID email even if the other account was deleted months ago?
