I am completely irritated. My bf who happens to NOT be black earned this award on Feb. 3. I, on the other hand, AM black and have not earned the award even with closing all goals every day in February so far. It truly does not matter, however it REALLY feels like what Apple intended to appease is slathered with pandering and what they are ridiculously trying to avoid...”white privilege”. I hate that term but DANG this is a very unattractive look for you Apple. 😡

You implied that you not getting it because you are black over your white boyfriend was the problem. You are creating an issue over a fitness feature on a piece of technology.

the black history month badge isn’t even a new thing. It’s something that Apple has done for years and I think that it’s another goal to strive for. Nothing more, nothing less.

it’s a small glitch on an otherwise great piece of technology. If this has happened in May, over the standard badge that could be earned would your cackles be this raised.

I’m a staunch supporter of BLM and ALL it represents. But you are turning this into an issue about race when it simply isn’t.

As I stated in my previous post the award is not an acknowledgment of black contribution to history it is an acknowledgment of a non issue “black unity”. Obviously the watch does not know my race nor my bf’s race so my use of that situation was simply an expression of my frustration and the straw that broke the camels back.

To begin with they are using “unity” instead of “history”, then to earn the February award goal they’ve set a nearly unreachable 16k exercise calories goal yet set a mere 7 move goals in a row to earn their “unity” award which to me is equivalent to lowering SAT scores so more minorities will qualify. To top it all off the app’s “glitch” gives the unity award when it hasn’t been earned therefore diluting the value of all the awards.

I know, the awards have no value and it all means nothing but it was at least entertaining until Apple’s crude attempt at being culturally correct.

Like I said until now Apple had done a beautiful job at staying above it all, I hope they just go back to where they were.
