Any idea if this will be fixed at some point? And is there anything that one can do as an end user to synch up and refresh the actual correct status? Or just wait for the wheels to turn at some distant point in the future? I recall last June the engravings did not appear initially, until finally many months later it eventually got fixed.
I am completely irritated. My bf who happens to NOT be black earned this award on Feb. 3. I, on the other hand, AM black and have not earned the award even with closing all goals every day in February so far. It truly does not matter, however it REALLY feels like what Apple intended to appease is slathered with pandering and what they are ridiculously trying to avoid...”white privilege”. I hate that term but DANG this is a very unattractive look for you Apple. 😡
I’m sorry... but are you seriously implying that there is any form of racial disparity or political motivation behind a glitch with your Apple Watch?? Really?!? It’s a glitch. Come down off your soapbox and step into the real world. It’s a glitch.
perhaps aim your indignation at a more just issue...
My indignation comes from endless pandering to not real issues. Apple should stay out of the fray. They have been above it all and should have stayed there. By the way when did black “unity” become an issue? Observance of black history, sure fine Apple but don’t start making more division where there doesn’t need to be.
You implied that you not getting it because you are black over your white boyfriend was the problem. You are creating an issue over a fitness feature on a piece of technology.
the black history month badge isn’t even a new thing. It’s something that Apple has done for years and I think that it’s another goal to strive for. Nothing more, nothing less.
it’s a small glitch on an otherwise great piece of technology. If this has happened in May, over the standard badge that could be earned would your cackles be this raised.
I’m a staunch supporter of BLM and ALL it represents. But you are turning this into an issue about race when it simply isn’t.
As I stated in my previous post the award is not an acknowledgment of black contribution to history it is an acknowledgment of a non issue “black unity”. Obviously the watch does not know my race nor my bf’s race so my use of that situation was simply an expression of my frustration and the straw that broke the camels back.
To begin with they are using “unity” instead of “history”, then to earn the February award goal they’ve set a nearly unreachable 16k exercise calories goal yet set a mere 7 move goals in a row to earn their “unity” award which to me is equivalent to lowering SAT scores so more minorities will qualify. To top it all off the app’s “glitch” gives the unity award when it hasn’t been earned therefore diluting the value of all the awards.
I know, the awards have no value and it all means nothing but it was at least entertaining until Apple’s crude attempt at being culturally correct.
Like I said until now Apple had done a beautiful job at staying above it all, I hope they just go back to where they were.
So is it still working right for those people who didnt close their Move ring January 31st? Anyways, all this seems like a very basic programming error...amazing to see given all the good focus in Fitness recently.
I’m not sure the resetting actually does anything - you reset it 4 times before the 5th reset appeared to do the trick. Therefore at least the first 4 resets had no effect. I’d leave it and just wait as my son did - eventually it appears.
Thats awesome! Then I dont know what it could be, just that quite many people have reported anomalies with this award. Interesting to see if they will eventually fix this at some later point... Last year we didnt get the engravings for the June award until sometime in August or September...lol.
Got mine day 1 too but now it’s gone!! Doesn’t even show in progress!
My Unity challenge is still there showing completed.
at end user side you can do nothing, definitely, it all depends on Apple and their priorities, so just wait
I didn’t even get to complete it. The whole award is gone
Yes sure, and presumably it needs to be seven consecutive days as well.
Yes, 7 consecutive days.
