I have been sent a mail saying my device has been infected with spyware that has been monitoring my social media, microphone and camera. They also have access to my contacts. They are threatening to share my information. Can an iPhone have malicious software remotely installed?

Glad it is a hoax, they reported using my devices camera to make sensitive pictures of me and were going to post it online if I didn’t pay up. Will just delete the mail.

That email has been going around for ages. Ignore it; it's a scam.

Thanks for that, I have tried to read up as much as possible regarding spyware on Apple products. Is it possible to remotely find install spyware on an Apple device?
There is no way to remotely install spyware on the iPhone.

I've received similar messages on my personal and work email accounts. What the scammer is claiming to do is impossible on an iOS device.
