Trade In

I am interested in trading in my iPhone 7 plus for the iPhone 12. If I buy the iPhone 12 in the store, would I get the trade in value back on the day of or would it take time for the Apple team to inspect my iPhone on if it meets the requirements for a trade in. Furthermore, if my iPhone does not mean the criteria, would I have to pay the iPhone 12 in its full value?

If you take it into an Apple Store you get the credit immediately as part of buying the new phone. Also see: https://www.apple.com/shop/trade-in
