Question regarding iPad Pro 2018 vs 2020

Hello everyone, I have question regarding about iPad Pro 2018 and 2020.

I am considering buying iPad Pro for using day to day basis. Not ultimate tasks just like email and media consumption. I would like to buy something would last longer in years due to strong components so it can last longer. I have in my mind IPAD PRO 2018 and 2020. They have pretty similar hardware except couple things. My question is how long Apple would support iPad Pro 2018 vs iPad Pro 2020 in daily basis? I want to buy something would last longer and I know both devices have pretty similar hardware so if someone can assume how long both would be supported? That would be great, thank you everyone! Happy Sunday!

Apple supports their new devices between 5-6 years.

Apple supported the 2013 iPad Air 1 for a full 6-years and since 2020, has been getting regular, smaller security updates.

Third party Apple app developers will support new Apple devices for up to 7-8 years.

So, when Apple ends support for any Apple device, third party app developers will keep supporting these these devices for another two more years, or so.

It is what it is.

Technology always moves forward and advances and always leaves older technologies behind at some near future time frame.

Best of Luck to You!
