How do I stop my phone from talking when I text

The Voiceover setting may be set to ON.

Open Settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ VoiceOver ➔ VoiceOver : Set this to OFF.

Go to settings... then accessibility... check on voiceover and spoken content.
