I changed my login password, even though I am the only one in my household who uses this iMac. Yet when later my iMac went into sleep mode, it now requests the I log back in. How do I avoid that? I used to just tap the mouse to get back to the desktop.

Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General (at the top of the Preferences window) > Require password x minutes/hours after sleep or screen saver begins.

Thank you! I had forgotten that. It seems the last time I changed my password (after reading a security blog about periodically doing just that) I didn't remember having to go into a separate pane in System Prefs to do that. Security & Privacy. Thanks.
