Two things Come to Mind:

A. Log Out of and Back in to iCloud:

Perhaps it all needs to resync with iCloud. So, perform a new login session.

B. The Ultimate Solution:

Restore from a Backup:

Have any backups of your iPhone prior to all of this occurring? If so, then restore from one

A. Hacking?:

No one has hacked your iPhone, unless it is Jail Broken.

B. Messaging Screen:

Have you recently upgrade your iOS to version iOS14? What are these "bad consequences" you speak of? Messages screen readily disappearing is is a common issue reported for the iOS14 upgrade..

So, To Fix This: One solution is to Hard Restarting your iPhone.

Try a Hard Restart:

Made any recent changes, such as updates? Try this...

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Shut Down (very-bottom).
  4. Swipe: Line to the right
  5. Wait: 30 Seconds
  6. Power Back Up

Hard-resetting doesn't work. I did that two days ago and it happened again today. This has been going on for months, even before I updated to iOS14. Another issue is that some messages don't show a visual or sound notification (or both), and then a message five minutes later from the same contact, does. The bad consequences are that my wife needs to reach me when she's doing sensitive things like getting the baby to sleep, and Dad perceived to being MIA is not making a thin-ice marriage any better. iPhone X is BY FAR the buggiest iPhone ever (can't get into all the reasons here).
