high sierra operating system needs to be updated
WOW my operating system is way out of date but I have not been told to upgrade. How do you get to the newest version?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and if your MacBook Pro is a 2012 or newer model, download Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur. If not, it can't be upgraded past High Sierra.
