Updating to macOS Catalina

I have a macbook 12-inch early 2016 with macOS High Sierra and I need to update it to macOS Catalina. I cannot find how to do this anywhere.

That would be an upgrade not an update. It should be available from the App Store app. Try typing, "macOS Catalina" in the search box.

Why not upgrade to Big Sur?
