New M1 Mac support for more than one external display

Hi, I have 2 external displays that I have previously been able to connect to a 2019 16" MacBook Pro using a Digital AV Multiport Adapter - video interface converter for one display (A1621), and a 3rd-party USB-C hub for the other.

I just purchased a new M1 13" Macbook Pro and I am unable to do the same thing - only one external monitor is supported at a time. I've read that this is as designed for the M1, but that multiple external monitor support might come in a subsequent Big Sur release, specifically 11.2. I downloaded and installed 11.2 last night, which didn't solve the problem so I'm wondering what the current story from Apple is for this. Should this currently work, and if not, is it planned for an upcoming Big Sur release? Or, is there another fix (which doesn't require additional hardware, like a docking station)? Also, will the new M1 13" Air eventually support more than one external monitor?

Thanks.

Yep, I understand. But, this is a step back from the previous released MBP. So Wondering if Apple plans on bringing feature parity to the M1.

Unfortunately, we are your fellow end-users, not Apple, and cannot give official answers. Apple are also notoriously closed-mouth about future plans.

Apple do not read these forums--too many members. However, you can get your concern directly to an Apple employee using this feedback link:
