Time Machine only supports a single volume and there aren't any single hard drives with 20TB. One solution is a RAID drive but they seem unreliable based on reviews (every brand I've looked at seems to be plagued with disconnects on Macs). I tried a dual bay enclosure with SPAN but it was unreliable (constantly disconnecting). Does anyone have a backup system that's reliable for this amount of data?

How is your 20TB of data stored now?
Is that data constantly being rewritten/modified/updated?
Is there a reason you want to use Time Machine as opposed to a dedicated back up application like Carbon Copy Cloner?

I have 2 external 10TB drives attached. I have a video production company so there are quite a lot of updates to the disks. I'm open to any setup that people have used reliably for large backups. I'm using Time Machine because it worked prefectly until I hit the 10TB (single volume) limit.
I was able to resolve this. I got the OWC Dual Drive enclosure with 20 TB using SPAN working. I had to disable "powernap" and "put drives to sleep". The disconnect problem is resolved!
Please try a SSD (Solid State Drive) since there are no moving parts, last longer than a Hard Drive (HD) and are less likely to fail than a HD.
