Built-in microphone not working on Macbook Air Catalina
Hi all!
Since today my built-in microphone in my Macbook Air is not working anymore. Since I have upgraded to Catalina I have actually had many problems, but this one of one of the most annoying.
I have shut down my mac, restarted my mac, checked all privacy, tested microphone using zoom/quicktime player/photo booth/etc, tried restarting mac in safe mode, restarted while resetting PRAM and SMC, tried it on a new account, but nothing seems to work. I have also cleaned out both microphone holes to the left, but they still don't work.
The microphone does 'record' tapping and touching the areas close to the microphone as sound. The mic works perfect when talking to Siri and when using dictation. I have found that the microphone also works on Zoom and any other app while I have System Preferences and then the menu on dictation open. For some reason it unlocks some sort of agents? They seem to get locked when I am not using the dictation menu.
The microphone also works when I am using a headset with microphone installed, however the one I used is owned by my girlfriend and I don't own one myself. And I would like to use my microphone even without using a headset.
I am desperately looking for a solution, since all my classes are using Zoom right now! Thanks in advance for any answers!
