Dance workout not counting towards goals

Why won’t the dance workout on my Apple Watch count towards the exercise goal in activity? This is a recent change because I used the dance workout back in September 2020 and it counted towards my exercise goal and now in February 2021 it does not. The only difference is the software versions.

Thank you but I’ve read both of those articles and they are not helpful. I chose the appropriate workout for what activity I was doing, Zumba so Dance, and I definitely achieved an activity level above a brisk walk with my watch fitting appropriately on my wrist as I tightened it to make sure it was not moving as I moved my arms around. So is there something else that could be suggested?

It looks like a recent software update changed the heart rate threshold for dance to count as exercise. For me at least the new threshold is above 110 bpm for dance where for core/yoga the threshold is about 90-100 bpm. Its really frustrating to do two 30 minute dance workouts and only get 20 minutes of exercise credit when I'm burning a bunch of calories.

I am not using the fitness+. Using “other” seems to work but seems ridiculous to have a dance option and not be able to use it when it is appropriate and it doesn’t record and my heart rate is definitely above a brisk walk. Thanks for the help but seems like the software update just isn’t working the way it should to accurately capture dance workouts anymore.
