The iPhones are not water-proof. Most likely some liquid got inside your phone and has damaged it. I suggest that you stop using it and make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have them take a look and provide you with your options. Please be aware that Apple's warranty does not cover liquid damage.
