M1 Mac Mini HDMI audio output locked at 48Khz.

I use a 2010 Mac Mini for audio and was thrilled to receive a 2020 Silicon Mac Mini as a gift.

However, someone decided the only audio sampling rate HDMI should support is 48KHz. All the other options were left there simply greyed out. I was hoping the MIDI setup app wasn't quite finished yet but this was 4 month ago and nothing has changed.

Cds used 44Khz but forget them

High Res audio uses several sampling rates but most commonly 96KHz but forget them too.

I thought maybe if I used a USB C to HDMI dongle it out give me the capabilities I enjoy form my 2010 Mac mini but that is also locked to 48Khz only.

I don't know what compelled Apple to cripple the IO of the new machines but they definitely made a mistake.

Thankfully I still have some older hardware before they decided they knew better what we want or need.
