If i update software on my MacBook Pro , AND IF IT UNDATES CATALINA, my computer locks up. Therefore i hhave been advised NOT to update my laptop.

How do I stop updates to Catalina when I install necessary updates?

Go to System Preferences >> Software Updates and Disable ( UnTick ) Automatic Updates in all categories
