I decided to wait until my subscription ran out.

But I didn’t realize that it would erase all my music how can I get it back without paying but not to listen to the music but just so I can switch it to another app?

Once you subscription expires, there is no guarantee if or for how long the music you LEASE with an Apple Music subscription will remain in your library. The music is DRM copy protected. And the subscription only allows you to play the music on approved Apple devices while you subscribe to Apple Music.

That is different from music you can BUY (with or without an Apple Music subscription) from the iTunes Store.
