Google hangouts profile picture not showing up on other people profile

Hey I can’t get a profile picture to show up on google hangouts and I’ve tried resetting my phone and deleting the app several times and it does come back for a little while and then it goes back to the default green profile picture again and I can’t seem to stay normal please help me fix this!?
