avoid backup between iPhone and Mac

How do I prevent my iphone from backing up to my mac? I want to be able to connect but not have to do a backup. I backup thru cloud but dont want to do it any other way. Im looking for a way to avoid it but it gives me no other option but: Welcome to your new iPhone. Would you like to set up this iPhone as new or restore from previous backup.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

That just means it's the first time you connect the iiPhone to this particular computer. Just select the Set Up as new option.

It won't backup, and and it won't restore the iPhone. It will let you move on without doing anything to the iPhone.
