I have a 15inch Macbook Pro"M98" late 2008 cpu 2.8. I currently have 4GB installed, I was doing some reading and have seen some people mention that 8GB of ram is possible. But I wasn't sure if mine was able to and if anyone in the forums could verify it for me. Also do the ram chips have to be matching or could I even install 1 4gb chip for 6gb of ram? Or do both have to be matchinig 2x4gb chips?
ahh okay so 6GB would be my cap, what would be the best way to achieve 6GB? Are 2x3GB chips being offered, or would just 1 4GB chip with my previous 2GB chip be the way to get 6GB cap?
I see, well I have 2x2GB chips already installed when I bought my computer from apple. So all I need to do is purchase a 4GB from there store and I'm set? Does it have to be an apple 4GB?
Yes, that should work. No, you don't have to purchase from Apple. A couple good sources are Data Mem and OWC. Just be sure to buy RAM with the specifications provided in the computer's user manual.
