So I bought a new laptop, and I got the email about having 3 months of free subscription to the arcade, but when I click the link I only ever get the option for the standard 1-month trial and absolutely nothing about those 3 months, what am I doing wrong here?

So, when you get any free trial from Apple it is linked to your Apple ID. So if you go on your iPhone or iPad and get the fitness app, make sure your iPhone or iPad is updated to the latest software. In the bottom portion of the scree you will see a fitness + icon. Click that and it will prompt you to start a free trail. Select yes and you're off to the races.
( you will need an Apple Watch to use Fitness + )

I had to accept it on my phone first in order to claim it, the analogy to the fitness app made me think about checking there!
