Reversing colors
What is the keystroke combination that toggles between light and dark backgrounds - reverses colors. I remember something like control>?>8

The option to invert colors (as well as other obscure keyboard combinations) can be seen in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts.
There, under Accessibility, you'll see the 'Invert Colors' which has the default key-equivalent of Control-Option-Command-8, so you were on the right lines.
