font size Mac air

Hello,

I have quit upgrading operating systems but did so as a test on a mac air which I use for music.

The font is so small I can't read it and the preferences have become very sparse anyway.

I like a font size of 16 for my old eyes and cannot read anything at all on my upgraded Mac Air so pleases help.

Oh, it is also reversed color so text edit is black with white text. I'd like to make it the way I am used to.

Thanks,

Garrett

The MacBook Air doesn't have scale options?

I wonder if EasyRe‪s‬, a free App on the Mac App Store gives you scaling options. It works good for me, but I'm not on an Air.

Do any of the Zoom or Accessibility options help?, like

Use your trackpad to zoom in to make an image larger on Mac

Use Hover Text on Mac

Worth exploring.

Howdy,

There are several places to change the font size on your Mac.

For example, the font size with Desktop items and Finder windows can be changed under View > Show View Options > Text size

The Menu bar itself can have a larger font with System Preferences > Accessibility > Display (sidebar) > Display (pane) > Menu bar size

If you want everything globally to be bigger you can choose a scaled resolution and choose a Larger Text option with System Preferences > Display > Display (pane) > Scaled > Larger Text

Then of course, in various Apps you can choose the font size you are working in.

As you can see, I also make my Cursor size bigger with System Preferences > Accessibility > Display (sidebar) > Cursor (pane) > Cursor size.

Thank you Ivan,

Darn, I already did all that and the air doesn’t have scale. I’m sure it great for people in their twenties and thirties. It’s iffy for a lot of people after forty I’d guess.

I bought this little computer very cheap out of the window of a repair store to play music and now see why it was so cheap. It works good but one has to be young or blessed with perfect vision to use it.

When it starts up I can’t even begin to read the pastel on pastel where it says password, for example.

Thank you anyway, Garrett
