Setting up a 12 max. The software update to IOS 14.4 is taking forever. Is that normal?

It depends how long “forever” is. And also your battery level must be above 50% and not in low power mode, and your phone must be connected to Wi-Fi.

Charging the phone seemed to resolve that problem. Still working through the transfer of data.

It was changing from 1 hour to six hours, back to three, back to one. The battery may have been below 50%. I have put it on a wireless charger to see if that helps.
