ipad hdmi issues iOS 14.4

After updating iPad Air 4th gen, iPad 5th gen and iPhone X to iOS 14.4, I am unable to use HDMI to view video or hear audio on external monitors and TVs. External monitor has external speaker and worked prior to update. I am able to see video by get no audio. Connect to TV via HDMI cable and get audio but no video. Tried different HDMI cables. Did hard restart on Apple devices, monitors, speakers, etc. as appropriate. Validated audio setting is not muted. Same cable used with iPad to connect to monitor provides expected audio and video on external monitor/speaker when connected to laptop. I have not been able to identify solution after online search. Any insight to a solution is appreciated.

Fixed: User Error - external speaker unit connected to monitor was set to bluetooth mode as opposed to AUX. Changes to AUX and sound works.

I have this same issue. I use an external monitor to connect via hdmi adapter from apple, my iphone so i can watch youtube while on the treadmill. Before id just connect it and I would see the video on the ext monitor and hear the sound through my phone or bluetooth headphones. Now after the update to 14.4, i can only see the video, no audio. I tried to change the settings cause i noticed that once i connect it to the adapter, it would show on airplay, it didnt do that before. So now im stuck and unable to use the monitor with my phone.
